It has been said that the single most difficult athletic skill to master is hitting a baseball. Standing at the plate, starring at the ball rapidly moving toward you can be intimidating. Therefore, it is important that young hitters have the confidence to learn the art of hitting. Doug
Carroll Baseball Academy builds confidence in our players through drills, a positive mental approach, and the establishment of the proper routine.
Below are the basic principles of our hitting instruction:
• Maintain proper balance throughout the
swing
• Keep the head still: The body rotates
around the head, maintaining balance
and eye level
• Rotate to the ball using the lower half of
the body (hips) to generate "early bat
speed"
• Keep the hands close to the body during
early rotation, maintain bat & head control
• Extend the hands "through the ball" and
not "to the ball"
• Finish the rotation by staying balanced
and allowing the back shoulder to explode
through the hitting zone, resulting in
"late bat Speed"
The results experienced by our members reinforce our belief in this comprehensive instructional process. We're confident our consistent message and your commitment to practice will improve your hitting and increase your confidence as a player.
