FREIRE ON BOARD AS NEW GM

Background Knowledge of Game Essential

The Doug Carroll Baseball and Bay State Softball Academy introduces Mike Freire as our new full-time General Manager and Program Director. Mike brings years of baseball knowledge and business management experience to DCBA/BSSA.

In 2004, Mike was the General Manager at Extra Innings in Watertown, MA (one of the most successful Extra Innings franchisees in the nation), overseeing the day-to-day operations and implementing new programs, incentives and sales plans before moving on to Nokona in 2007.  Then in 2007, Mike took on the role of Sales Manager for the northeastern (United States) territory for Nokona, growing the sales in that territory by nearly 200 percent in one year's time. He also introduced a new glove idea to Nokona that he saw come to fruition in 2008.

In 2008, through the success of his glove concept, Mike became the director of Product Development for Nokona Baseball (which he still maintains on a contractual basis). Mike has witnessed success with three new glove designs in the last two-years. Mike is "returning to his roots" with DCBA/BSSA, working with kids, as well as young men and women that share the same passion for a sport he loves so dearly.  Mike's true passion lies within the development of young baseball and softball players, helping them reach the highest levels through his knowledge and expertise.

"I'm really excited to have someone of Mike Freire's caliber on our team. Mike brings a wealth of baseball knowledge with him, which will prove invaluable to the DCBA/BSSA programs," said owner Doug Carroll. "Our players will benefit from having Mike at our facility on a full-time basis."
